Efforts for transforming information into knowledge are used as an important indicator for development levels of countries. Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Departments undertake a mission to equip students with both theoretical and applied content, aiming to devise educational technologies in the curriculum. Our main goal is to ensure students to train sophisticatedly and with a high level of awareness.
Recent updates in the Undergraduate Programs for Teacher Training in Turkey pose a suggestion for balancing the number of field education, professional knowledge and general culture courses. In this context, faculties and particularly departments are expected to have a vision to train prospective teachers who are qualified to educate students in terms of cognitive, affective and also psychomotor skills. The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk underlines these three skill types even in those years:
“Our main, great idea is to raise a virtuous and powerful generation who works on positive sciences, likes fine arts, with a high talent in both mental and physical disciplines.”
Our department have qualified members who have field education knowledge, professional experience and high socialness, aiming at above mentioned goals.
Graduate meetings, exhibitions for materials developed within the courses, technical visits, seminars and short-term courses on various technologies, workshops on robotics, chats with the administrators of technology forums were among events performed by the department. More events will be held as more examples come to the fore that technology and education intersects.
Members of our department study on information technologies education, educational technologies, instructional design, design and management in instruction at a distance, material development and distance education technologies, and various qualifications in leadership behaviours regarding educational technologies, persuasive technology use in mathematics education, personalization in online learning, machine vision and high performance, authentic mathematics education, online collaborative learning, teacher training and social media ethics that strengthen our department.
